D421B is an advanced flotation depressant developed by Y&X Beijing Technology Co., Ltd., designed for selective suppression of serpentine and pyrite minerals in polymetallic ore flotation.
This reagent is engineered to address the common challenges of gangue contamination, poor selectivity, and pyrite over-flotation, especially under low-alkaline conditions.
Serpentine Control
D421B forms a hydrophilic film on serpentine surfaces, significantly reducing its floatability and allowing it to be removed as tailings.
Fine Gangue Stabilization
Through charge neutralization, D421B prevents fine gangue particles from adhering to sulfide mineral surfaces, maintaining cleaner separation and improved collector efficiency.
Pyrite Suppression in Mild pH
The reagent inhibits pyrite by surface adsorption and oxidation, forming a passive, hydrophilic layer that reduces its flotation response even at lower lime additions.
Appearance: Black-brown free-flowing powder
Recommended Dosage: 50-1000 g/ton depending on ore type
Solution Concentration: ≤2% in water
Dosing Location: Mixing or flotation tanks; pre-mixing in a stirred buffer tank is recommended to avoid sedimentation
Sodium metaphosphate
Humic acid sodium
Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose
Other performance-enhancing additives
Higher concentrate grade through effective gangue rejection
Lower lime consumption due to functionality at reduced alkalinity
Compatible with various collectors in sulfide flotation
Improved process stability in serpentine-rich ores
Standard Packaging:
25 kg woven bags
850 kg jumbo bags
Storage Guidelines:
Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from moisture, direct sunlight, and reactive chemicals. Shelf life: 36 months.
D421B is non-flammable and low-risk when handled correctly. Operators should wear gloves, goggles, and protective clothing.
Avoid direct release into the environment. Residuals are safely decomposed during smelting or tailings treatment.
D421B is particularly effective in flotation operations dealing with:
Copper-nickel ores with serpentine-rich gangue
Gold-copper-lead ores containing disseminated pyrite
Flowsheets requiring selectivity improvement without strong pH adjustment
D421B delivers targeted control over the two most common interfering gangue minerals-serpentine and pyrite-while enhancing the efficiency of sulfide mineral recovery.
Its consistent performance and ease of application make it a valuable component in modern flotation reagent schemes.
